How applying oil can preserve your leather sofa

Applying oil to your leather sofa helps in several ways:

1. Moisturizing: Like human skin, leather also needs moisturizing. Applying oil helps in keeping the leather hydrated, which in turn prevents it from drying out and cracking.

2. Protective layer: The oil creates a barrier that prevents dirt, dust, and liquid spills from penetrating and damaging the leather. It can also block harmful UV rays from fading the color of the leather.

3. Enhances Appearance: Oil gives the leather a nice shine, enhances its color, and keeps it looking new and fresh.

4. Flexibility: Regular oiling helps maintaining the flexibility of the leather. It prevents stiffness and makes the sofa more comfortable to sit on.

5. Increases Longevity: By preventing premature aging and deterioration, oiling increases the lifespan of your leather sofa.

However, remember not every type of oil is suitable for leather. Use specific oils that are designed for leather care, like mink oil or neatsfoot oil, and always do a test patch first to ensure it won’t damage or discolor your sofa.
